Apologies once more for my extended absence- I have a very good excuse though!
For the past week I've been busy doing work experience at the local newspaper. I've learnt so much and met so many talented journalists, and I've even been writing a few stories and taking some snaps for the paper myself. I feel so lucky to be working amongst such inspiring people, and actually contributing. When I first found out I was lucky enough to have this opportunity I assumed I'd spend my days fetching coffee, making photocopies- you know, all that cliched intern stuff you see in movies, and I was ecstatic about that. But to find out I'd be involved with news meetings, conducting my own interviews and writing stories that would be published was one of the most exciting moments of my life. I feel like I've already landed my dream job after only a year of university. And it's only confirmed my belief that journalism is the right career path for me.
